Functions

The Junk Bar is perfect for parties and functions.

Currently we are taking function bookings for all nights and depending on the number of people you can have the private lounge or enjoy the whole bar and it’s two rooms!

The Junk Bar has its own self-contained bar and vinyl sound system and if you hire Junk,  you’ll hire one of the best venues in Brisbane with the records spinning and the drinks flowing.
All you have to do is relax and enjoy yourself, and soak up the adoration and admiration of your guests.

This is where you want your next party or function.

And we’ve got options, baby:
• If you want you can run a tab for an amount of your choosing, or if it’s easier just have everyone buy their own drinks – we want to make it easy for you.
• We can also help you customise your drinks tab. We’ll be happy to send you costings on how much a white, red, champagne, premium beer and basics tab is for your group.
• Special event and you want cocktails on offer all night? We can do that too.
• Cocktails on arrival and then basics after that? Whatever you need we can make it happen.

The music for your party will be drawn from our awesome collection of vinyl – this is what our bar is all about. We are happy to take record requests in advance and curate a vinyl playlist for you. Let us know if there is a genre you love (70’s/soul/rockabilly etc, – our vinyl library is amazing).
If you hire the entire bar you can also create your own playlist and play it off your own device – just let us know this in advance.
The function space does not include the use of the stage or the PA for live music.

The Junk Bar is quirky and unique with a vibe that’ll ensure a great night; there’s nothing quite like it in Brisbane. Having a function at The Junk Bar is all about escapism, warm attitudes and fabulous drinks. We’d love to look after you.
For more information just go to the contacts page and email Brodie and he will be happy to help with any questions you have.
Or you’re welcome to call Brodie directly on 0450202038 or Karen 0410460804

Hi Mia,
I just wanted to thank you, Andy and Sam so much for taking such good care of me, my family and friends on Saturday night.
For someone who was very reluctant to have their first ever birthday party I couldn’t have asked for a better night!
By the way, that Lemon and Lavender cocktail is an absolute winner 👍
Hannah xoxo (2019)

Mic Night – Thursdays

Artist photo

Come on down and join in with our Mic Night every Thursday. BYO tunes!

Friday 18th June

Little Mountain

Artist photo

Little Mountain is a duo from the Sunshine Coast, Australia formed by Cameron Cronk and Simon Taylor in 2020. Their sound encompasses a rich and unique quality, yet still retains a sense of something familiar, nostalgic and relatable. The duos song writing is heavily influenced by bands like Fleetwood Mac, Paul Kelly, Boy & Bear and Middle Kids, and as such their music can be categorised under the broad genres of alternative/indie/folk/pop/rock.

Saturday 19th June

Pat Kenny

Artist photo

Alt Country singer/songwriter Pat Kenny is launching his latest EP, Can’t Afford Happiness at Brisbane’s most intimate venue, The Junk Bar. With layers of wandering banjo, fierce harmonica, and soaring fiddle, this dark, Alt Country EP delivers a sonic punch that would feel at home in a True Crime series trailer.

Pat Kenny will be joined on stage with fiddle aficionado, Gareth Mewes, and the dashing Dennis Duigan on banjo. The evening will open with a set from the captivating Kelsey Berrington, who is sure to break your heart while you listen.

Pat Kenny, the former Australian Army Officer, is a dedicated and introspective songwriter, familiar with the art of storytelling. ‘An emerging artist with the chops to follow the likes of Paul Kelly and Shane Nicholson into the fame halls.’ – Kath Devaney (ABC Country Programmer)

Saturday 26th June

COMEDY SHOW

Artist photo

Colette Andersen. Armed with small town hospitality and harsh realities, Colette dishes out a satirical reflection on life that is fast paced, witty and…not too far from Crazy Town.

Georgia Struckel. The actor, converting to stand-up out of pure spite. Her comedy is biting, sarcastic and laced with a kind of rage that can only be fixed with a good bar fight.

Watch this duo vie for centre stage, where as much blood will be spilt on the floor as runs through their DNA.

Friday 2nd July

Artist photo

Full Circle sees Biilmann in very successful collaborations with Michael Barker (John Butler Trio, The Black Sorrows, Split Enz) on drums/percussion and longtime producer/engineer Matt Barnes. The Full Circle album tour will showcase the new album & old favourites with Biilmann’s trademark honesty, soaring lyrics, guitar mastery and the signature wit + like-ability everyone has come to expect from his shows. Featuring James Wengrow (guitar – returning from NYC), Helen Svoboda (double bass – returning from the Netherlands), Andrew Saragossi (tenor saxophone – returning from the Netherlands) & Tim Green (drums – fresh from a 3 month EU tour). Their improvisations cycle through irregular grooves, (a)tonal strangeness, and moments of textural (dis)unity, harnessing the spontaneity of the post-apocalyptic delirium. The quartet recorded its debut album in November 2020, with its release planned for 2021.

Sunday 25th July

Stephen Grady + Dan Challis

Artist photo

Two Australian singer-songwriters have recently released their new albums and are hitting the road this winter to connect with audiences across the country. Folk singers at heart, their individual stories and songs are expressed in the simplest way possible, through guitar and voice.

Stephen Grady released his album ‘Wonder’ in October 2020, which “Strikes a perfect balance of sparse folk and balladeer-blues, with Nick Drake and Jose Gonzales undertones, ‘Wonder’ is a world class composition” (Kath Devaney, ABC Music Programmer/Producer).

Grady was part of the Australian folk duo, The Ahern Brothers, and toured extensively; most notably he supported the ‘Tex, Don and Charlie’ tour back in 2017 (www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BHV7zJ44hA).

Dan Challis’s album ‘No Lonely Road’, came out in November 2020 and was inspired by a 4-year journey across North America. It has been called “rich, authentic acoustic folk… And should make you feel something raw and timeless” (EarToTheGround Music blog).

Challis is now a Sydney-based artist and has garnered a healthy following after playing house concerts last year, in support of his album release (www.instagram.com/p/CIehCADAkgQ/).

Please join us for a night of acoustic folk music, by two songwriters who care deeply about their craft.
