LUATÈ. // Olivia Joy Live @ Junk Bar
February 4 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm$10
South Sudanese/Australian artist LUATÈ. is an emerging alt-pop singer/songwriter based in Brisbane. A modern-day Tracey Chapman, LUATÈ. creates highly emotive works, penning lyrics laden with viscous imagery. Coining the term ‘existentialist pop’ LUATÈ. describes her work as being “at its marrow, an acute and urgent pursuit of honesty.” Sonically, she has been compared to artists like Nao, Lorde & Kira Puru.
Olivia Joy is an alternative pop/rock artist from Brisbane, Australia, who writes songs to cry to in the shower. Citing influences such as Phoebe Bridgers, Jess Cornelius and Mitski, her evocative songwriting and clever lyrics refuse to leave a dry eye in the room.
Olivia Joy started her musical endeavours as a child, studying saxophone and flute, before discovering the joy of songwriting. She then went on to study songwriting at the Conservatorium of Music, and since graduating has been quietly writing and stockpiling songs.
